Confidence: The Inconvenient Truth That the Beauty Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know
We’ve been taught to believe that confidence comes from looking a certain way—flawless skin, sculpted cheekbones, full lips. But real confidence isn’t about meeting an impossible standard. It’s about feeling at peace with yourself, your body, and what you look like.
The problem? We live in a world that tells us the opposite.

Celebrity culture and the beauty industry have created a homogenised face—big lips, high cheekbones, poreless glass skin. These images are everywhere, constantly reinforcing the message that we are not enough as we are.
And the worst part?
We carry these messages in our pockets.
Our phones have become the most powerful tools for this conditioning, feeding us content that tells us we need to change to be happier, more attractive, more desirable. But it’s all a lie.
The Billion-Pound Industry of Insecurity...
The beauty industry is worth trillions, and it thrives on one thing: our self-doubt. The more we believe we need fixing, the more they can sell to us—makeup, anti-aging treatments, cosmetic procedures, filters that blur reality. Every product, every ad, every “flaw” we are told to correct is carefully designed to keep us in the cycle of spending.
A confident woman is pretty convenient really. She doesn’t buy into the fear of aging. She doesn’t feel the need to drown her skin in lotions and potions. She isn’t obsessing over trends that change every season. She doesnt let a couple of zits ruin her day. She doesnt feel self concious if shes sprouting some grey hairs. She isn't insecure about pottering around in her underwear, whether it be in the bedroom or on the beach. She simply exists in her body without apology.
And that makes her powerful.

Confidence isn’t about perfection. It’s about taking back control and seeing ourselves without the filter of what society tells us to fix. The more we step into self-acceptance, the less power these industries have over us.
This is exactly what my art and workshops are about—helping women recognize and break free from the external forces that profit from our insecurities. When we pick up our phones, we’re not just scrolling for fun—we’re opening a door for billion-pound industries and clever marketing to slip in, chip away at our confidence, and convince us we need fixing.
The truth is, so many of us struggle with confidence because we’ve been exposed to messaging and imagery from an early age that set an impossible standard for what women “should” look like. And frustratingly, that standard still resembles something out of a Disney movie—smooth, flawless, unreal.
This is why normalizing real bodies is so important and why I believe group Body Impression Workshops are so powerful. Think about it—when was the last time you were in a room with other women, naked or partially naked? Even in changing rooms, there’s this unspoken rule to stay covered, to wrap ourselves in towels just right, to avoid exposing a side boob—or god forbid, a tiny glimpse of anything more.
But when we gather in a group, something shifts. We see, with our own eyes, that we all look pretty similar. Lumps, bumps, stretched skin, sagging bits, cellulite, big parts, small parts—we all have them. And none of us resemble the airbrushed pin-ups that have been shoved in our faces for years.
This is why I love the Body Impression process and group workshops—they help us see ourselves differently, with more love and appreciation. They give us a space to create, express, and reconnect with our bodies in a way that feels freeing, not critical.

If you’re ready to experience this for yourself, join one of my workshops or book a one-to-one session. Through body impressions and creative expression, we’ll work on self-acceptance in a way that feels real and empowering.
I would LOVE to support you on this journey toward greater self-acceptance and help you experience the same benefits that so many women have gained through this powerful process.

Lots of love, Beth xxx
